I’m fascinated with fine art of women’s portraiture. I’ve been watching a fine art photographer, Jennifer Thoreson (formerly Hudson), for a while now and I love how simple yet enticing her work is. She inspired me to style this shoot. I met Samy on Facebook; she a sister of my dear photographer friend. I knew instantly I wanted to photograph her the moment I saw her. So I got in touch with Samy, and decided to style a shoot just for her.
I found this beautiful location on Longboat Key at one of my recent trips to Sarasota. I’ve seen many beautiful beaches here, in Florida, yet none of them resonated with me as much as this one. The scenery of all the driftwood all around the beach was exactly what I needed for this photoshoot.
Even though I didn't need too many props to create this shoot, the preparation and execution took a lot of time and effort. For this photoshoot I decided to go with a piece of fabric rather than a big fluffy dress… well, cheesecloth, to be exact. ;) I stained it with tea and used some safety pins to hold it together. I got a tree branch and twisted it into a crown.
My talented makeup artist, Noell with Bella Ti Artistry, styled Samy’s hair and did her beautiful makeup. I love working with her, she always amazes me with the outcome. Here are some images from a session with Samy. Enjoy!
